[Case Study] Draining a Pond with a Siphon! Kyoto Prefecture Project

Drainage of agricultural ponds is implemented inexpensively using siphon drainage! Achieving a drainage rate of 2m³ per minute with a φ100mm device!

At the pond in Kyoto, renovation work was carried out, and due to the decrease in water level, we received inquiries about the hybrid Yamata siphon. Considering the local conditions, we proposed a φ100mm siphon drainage system. Through siphon drainage, we were able to lower the water level of the pond, which is 50m wide and 50m deep, by approximately 1m per day. Transportation and installation were carried out using a small backhoe and six workers. With a piping extension of 80m and a height difference of 10m between the pond's water level and the discharge outlet, we achieved drainage of 1.7m³ per minute with zero fuel consumption through siphon drainage.

【50% Cost Reduction!!】Report on Water Level Decrease in Reservoir Due to Syphon Drainage

By using generators and submersible pumps, we significantly reduce fuel costs, generator rental fees, and submersible pump rental fees compared to conventional methods!

The Yamata Siphon installed in Iga City, Mie Prefecture has been operating smoothly since its installation. Therefore, we calculated how much cost reduction has been achieved compared to the conventional water replacement method. The fuel costs, underwater pump, and generator rental required for the conventional method amount to about 600,000 yen per month. Since the Yamata Siphon does not use fuel, underwater pumps, or generators, it can significantly reduce those costs. Even after deducting the lease fee for this equipment, there is still a cost cut of about 500,000 yen!

For the decrease in water level of the agricultural pond! A siphon drainage system with zero fuel costs!

Developed a siphon drainage system that allows for zero fuel costs and can be manually transported to prevent water level decline and dam failure! Drainage using the principle of siphoning can be easily activated!

This is a device that easily initiates drainage due to a decrease in water level in places with elevation differences, such as agricultural ponds, using a suction hose and dedicated components. Because it operates on the principle of siphoning, fuel costs are nearly zero. This allows for significant cost reductions in fuel expenses, and it also reduces the hassle of refueling. The device with a diameter of 100mm can be transported manually and can be installed in locations where heavy machinery cannot access. The greater the elevation difference, the more drainage capacity increases; in practice, the 100mm device has recorded drainage rates of over 2m³ per minute. This is roughly equivalent to the drainage volume achieved using conventional 150mm submersible pumps powered by electricity.

[Case Study] Draining a Pond with a Siphon! Project in Iga City, Mie Prefecture

Drainage of the agricultural pond is implemented inexpensively using siphon drainage! Achieving a drainage rate of 2m³ per minute with a φ100mm device!

A company that was considering lowering the water level in a reservoir in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, contacted us regarding the hybrid Yamata siphon. Considering the local conditions, we installed a φ100mm siphon drainage system. Through siphon drainage, we were able to lower the water level of the reservoir, which is 100m wide and 100m deep, by 20cm per day. The site was inaccessible to large machinery, so transportation and installation were carried out using a small all-terrain transport vehicle and seven workers. Additionally, due to the difficulty of transporting a 4-inch submersible pump and a three-phase generator for starting the siphon, we used three 2-inch submersible pumps and a portable generator that could be carried by hand to initiate the siphon. With a 100m extension of the piping and a height difference of 10m between the water level in the reservoir and the discharge outlet, we achieved a drainage rate of 2m³ per minute with zero fuel consumption through siphon drainage. This drainage rate of 2m³ per minute was comparable to that of a φ150mm submersible pump powered by electricity.
